Our crews install vinyl every week. That repetition builds genuine skill -- tighter joints, proper expansion gaps, and correct fastener technique that holds up season after season.

Free Style Consultation

We bring samples to your property in Roaring Spring so you can evaluate colors and textures against your actual roofline, trim, and landscaping before committing to an order.

Properly Fitted Every Time

Old Siding Replacement

Replacement projects give us the opportunity to address substrate issues that old siding concealed. We never cover problems -- we fix them and document our findings for your records.

Foam-backed vinyl siding

Foam-Backed Vinyl

The foam layer in insulated vinyl also eliminates the hollow sound conventional siding produces when struck, and it reduces thermal bridging through the wall studs -- a meaningful upgrade in colder climates.

Cedar shake vinyl siding

Vinyl Shake Panels

We install vinyl shake on full elevations and as accent panels alongside horizontal lap siding. Proper alignment and starter strip placement keep the staggered courses looking intentional, not ragged.

Vertical board vinyl siding installation

Vertical Board Vinyl

Vertical vinyl panels and board-and-batten profiles suit contemporary and farmhouse-style homes particularly well. We install vertical systems with proper furring strips for drainage and correct J-channel terminations at top and bottom.

Soffit and fascia installation

Soffit and Fascia

Coordinated vinyl soffit and fascia complete the siding system and protect your roofline from moisture intrusion. We match profiles and colors to your siding for a finished, continuous look on every elevation.

Vinyl siding grade comparison

What Vinyl Thickness Means for Roaring Spring Homes

  • Entry-Level vs. Premium Vinyl

Standard grade vinyl (typically .040" thick) is adequate for mild conditions and budget-conscious projects. Premium grades (.044" and above) hold shape better in temperature extremes common to Roaring Spring, PA and resist denting from impact more effectively. We specify grade based on your home's exposure, not upsell pressure.

  • Vinyl Thickness Explained

A thicker panel is not always necessary, but in exposed coastal or high-altitude Roaring Spring, PA locations, the added rigidity pays off in longevity. We carry options across the gauge range and help you match product to site conditions.

  • Foam-Backed vs. Standard Panels

Insulated vinyl costs more upfront but reduces heating and cooling load, eliminates panel flex noise, and adds perceived quality. For Roaring Spring homeowners dealing with significant temperature swings, the energy offset can narrow the price gap over a decade of ownership.

  • Impact-Resistant Vinyl

Some vinyl lines carry ASTM D4226 impact resistance certification, indicating they withstand impact without cracking at low temperatures. For Roaring Spring, PA homes in hail-prone areas, specifying impact-rated product can reduce repair frequency and may influence insurance premiums favorably.

What Roaring Spring Homeowners Should Know About Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding is manufactured from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin compounded with stabilizers, pigments, and impact modifiers. The resulting panels are extruded at consistent thickness, then embossed with surface textures that mimic wood grain, cedar shake, or smooth lap board. Because the color runs through the full thickness of the panel rather than sitting as a surface coat, minor scratches and scuffs do not expose an underlying substrate. This characteristic distinguishes vinyl from painted wood or fiber cement and contributes directly to its maintenance advantage.

In Roaring Spring, PA, where temperature swings between seasons can be substantial, vinyl's expansion and contraction behavior is the most important installation variable. PVC expands and contracts at a rate significantly higher than wood. A ten-foot panel can change length by a meaningful fraction of an inch between a summer afternoon and a cold winter morning. Professional installers account for this by nailing through the center of elongated slots in the nailing hem, allowing the panel to slide freely rather than binding. When panels are face-nailed, driven tight, or installed without adequate overlap, the system buckles in summer heat or gaps in winter cold. This is the most common source of vinyl siding failure in Roaring Spring, and it is entirely avoidable with correct installation technique.

Vinyl siding grades are measured primarily by panel thickness, expressed in thousandths of an inch. Products at the lower end of the market measure around .040 inches. Premium lines reach .044 to .050 inches or more. Thicker panels carry greater impact resistance, flex less in high winds, and maintain a flatter profile over long spans between studs. They also tend to carry more favorable fade warranties from manufacturers, because the pigment loading in premium grades is formulated for longer color stability under UV exposure. For most standard residential applications in Roaring Spring, a mid-range to premium thickness is a reasonable specification. Budget-grade panels are appropriate for low-exposure applications like enclosed porches or garage elevations with minimal sun and wind exposure.

Insulated vinyl siding takes the standard product and bonds a layer of contoured XPS or EPS foam to the back face. This foam layer does several things simultaneously. It increases the thermal resistance of the wall assembly modestly but consistently, typically adding between R-2 and R-4 to the exterior envelope depending on foam thickness. It eliminates the hollow-drum sound that standard vinyl produces when rain or hail strikes it. It also adds panel stiffness, which reduces oil-canning (the slight waviness visible on flat panels in raking light) and provides a more solid feel when the panel is pushed or struck. For older homes in Roaring Spring, PA with thin wall assemblies or insufficient insulation, the thermal contribution of insulated vinyl is a meaningful bonus on top of a new exterior appearance.

Beyond occasional washing, vinyl siding in Roaring Spring, Roaring Spring, PA asks very little of the homeowner. Do not use harsh solvents, abrasive compounds, or undiluted bleach on vinyl panels -- these can affect the surface finish permanently. For mildew on north-facing elevations, a soft brush with a diluted cleaner and a rinse works reliably. When you notice caulking at trim joints beginning to crack or pull away from the surface, that is the time to call for a caulk refresh before water finds its way behind the trim. Attending to caulk maintenance is the main annual task vinyl siding places on a homeowner, and it is a minor one.

Properly installed vinyl in Roaring Spring, Roaring Spring, PA holds up for a long time when the installation fundamentals are correct. Warranty documents from reputable manufacturers cover decades of product performance. What they do not cover is installation error, which is why workmanship warranty from your contractor matters as much as the product warranty itself. When you invest in a new exterior, the contractor's commitment to their own work is the most meaningful assurance of long-term performance. We back ours in writing.

Vinyl Siding Questions from Roaring Spring Homeowners

Professionally installed vinyl siding in Roaring Spring, PA typically lasts thirty years or more before requiring replacement. Manufacturer warranties on premium products often run to forty years, with fade coverage for a significant portion of that period. The actual lifespan depends on installation quality, panel grade, the direction and intensity of sun exposure on each elevation, and how well trim caulking is maintained over time. Dark colors and unshaded south-facing elevations typically show the most color shift over the years. With correct installation and minimal annual maintenance, Roaring Spring homeowners regularly see vinyl perform well past the warranty period.
Painting vinyl siding is technically possible but practically problematic for Roaring Spring, PA homeowners. The panel movement from thermal expansion cracks most paint films within a few seasons. Vinyl-specific coatings perform better but still require more maintenance than new vinyl. The more critical issue is color -- painting panels a significantly darker shade increases heat absorption and can cause the panel to exceed its thermal tolerance, leading to buckling. If you are considering paint to address fading or color change in Roaring Spring, a consultation on replacement cost versus painting cost is worth having before committing to either path.
For most Roaring Spring homes, we recommend mid-range to premium gauge vinyl -- typically .044" or higher -- as a baseline. This thickness range provides adequate stiffness to minimize oil-canning across standard stud spacing, better impact resistance against typical hail and debris common to Roaring Spring, PA, and stronger fade warranties than entry-level products. For homes with highly exposed elevations, coastal proximity, or significant daily temperature variation, premium-grade product is a sound specification. We match thickness recommendation to your specific site conditions and budget rather than defaulting to one tier for every project.
For many Roaring Spring homeowners, insulated vinyl delivers a tangible quality improvement that goes beyond energy savings alone. The foam backing makes panels feel and sound more solid, reduces visible waviness on long runs, and adds modest but consistent thermal resistance. If your primary motivation is energy performance, the foam layer helps most when the rest of your envelope is reasonably tight. If your motivation is a premium panel feel and quieter exterior, insulated vinyl delivers that consistently regardless of your home's overall insulation level. We are direct about when the cost difference makes sense and when standard premium-gauge vinyl is sufficient.
Vinyl cleaning in Roaring Spring does not require special equipment or products. Twice-yearly washing with a soft brush and garden hose keeps most panels looking clean. For mildew on shaded elevations -- a common occurrence in Roaring Spring, PA's climate -- a diluted vinegar solution applied with a soft brush and rinsed thoroughly removes growth without damaging the surface finish. One practical caution: when using any rinse device, work from the top of the wall down and avoid directing spray upward into the lap joints. Water driven up under the laps has nowhere to drain and creates the kind of moisture accumulation behind panels that proper siding installation works hard to prevent.
Vinyl and fiber cement both serve Roaring Spring homeowners well, but they make sense in different situations. Vinyl wins on low maintenance -- it requires no painting, resists moisture inherently, and stays relatively lightweight. Fiber cement is denser, holds paint longer between refresh cycles than wood, and can be specified to look more convincingly like painted wood grain. It also performs better in areas with very high fire risk. The trade-offs: fiber cement requires periodic repainting (typically every ten to fifteen years), is significantly heavier and more labor-intensive to install, and costs more in most markets for equivalent coverage. For homeowners prioritizing low long-term maintenance cost and faster payback on the installation investment in Roaring Spring, PA, vinyl is typically the stronger choice. For homeowners who prefer the aesthetic versatility of a product that accepts custom paint colors and values a denser panel feel, fiber cement has real merit.

Roaring Spring was established around the Big Spring in Morrison's Cove, a clean and dependable water source vital to the operation of a paper mill. Prior to 1866, when the first paper mill was built, Roaring Spring had been a grist mill hamlet with a country store at the intersection of two rural roads that lead to the mill near the spring. A grist mill, powered by the spring water, had operated at that location since at least the 1760s. After 1867, as the paper mill expanded, surrounding tracts of land were acquired to accommodate housing development for new workers. The formalization of a town plan, however, never occurred. As a result, the seemingly random street pattern of the historic district is the product of hilly topography, a small network of pre-existing country roads that converged near the Big Spring, and the property lines of adjacent tracts that were acquired through the years for community expansion. The arterial streets of the district are now East Main, West Main, Spang and Bloomfield, each of which leads out of the borough to surrounding townships. Two of these streets — Spang and East Main — meet with Church Street at the district's main intersection called "Five Points." The boundaries of the district essentially include those portions of Roaring Spring Borough which had been laid out for development by the early 1920s. This area encompasses 233 acres (0.94 km2) or 55 percent of the borough's area of 421 acres (1.70 km2). Since the district's period of significance extends to 1944, most of those buildings erected after the 1920s were built as infill within the areas already subdivided by the 1920s. In the early 1960s, the borough began to annex sections of adjacent Taylor Township, especially to the east around the then new Rt. 36 Bypass.
